A Development Worker with over twenty-five years working in the area of sustainable development. Currently a PhD researcher in Education Management with a focus on refugees, she holds a Masters degree and a Bachelors degree with a concurrent diploma in Education. Through diverse leadership positions in Uganda and Kenya and trainings in, Rwanda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, The Philippines, Zimbabwe, France, South Africa, Zambia and the United Kingdom, Christine has gained a wealth of experience vital for development work. Christine has experience in; policy advocacy and project identification, formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation and sustainability as well as organizational assessment, diagnosis and development. She has had the opportunity of mainstreaming crosscutting issues such as HIV/AIDS, child protection, gender, conflict, peace-building and disability into development programmes. Christine has experience in advocacy and has worked as a National Advocacy Coordinator for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), where she got in-depth experience working around Reproductive Health and HIV/AIDS. She has prior experience working with Chemonics on a USAID funded project supporting grassroots organizations addressing HIV/AIDS. Prior to founding CLEAN Uganda, held middle and senior management positions in Action Aid, Grath and Gregor Associates, Ka Tutandike Uganda and Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) Uganda Chapter, where she was Executive Director one of the 34 National Chapters all over Africa and took lead in advocating for the rights of girls and women in education and sustainable development.
She is an Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) for Development professional with 20 years' experience working with high-profile global organizations. She has trained individuals in the Government and Private Sector on the use of ICTs to foster development. She has designed and developed databases and managed ICT projects. She has participated in organizing ICT for development workshops, managed an on-line knowledge sharing group for ICT4D trainers and has presented at the ICT4D 2018 and 2019 conferences in Zambia and Uganda respectively. In the area of Mobile Technology for Development, she has worked with; Text to Change Mobile where she was in charge of 12 Mobile Health projects and helped set up a research contact center as a follow-up center, she also worked as a consultant with UNICEF Uganda in conjunction with the office of the prime minister and the Uganda Red Cross Society on the disaster/risk monitoring system and volunteered with Checheza a Swedish Non-Governmental Organization on improving digital tools for early learning. She also has experience in monitoring and evaluating ICT projects.
Julius has over 12 years’ progressive work experience in Program Management and has successfully managed projects both in Uganda and Rwanda. Julius holds a Master of Science in Public Health from Clarke International University, Bachelors Degree in Social Work & Social Administration from Ndejje University, Diploma in Business Administration and Certificate in Project Planning & Management from Makerere University, Certificate in Advanced Sports Management Course from International Olympic Committee and Certificate in Ugandan Sign Language from Uganda National Association for the Deaf. Previously, he worked as Project Manager at Ka Tutandike Uganda in charge of the Disability Programme, managing the Reproductive Health for Deaf Youth (RHEDY) Project and spearheaded the setting up of this project and impacted the lives of hundreds of Deaf youth. As a result, the model was adopted by other schools for the Deaf in Uganda. He worked with Volunteer Service Oversees (VSO) Rwanda, at Rwanda National Union of the Deaf (RNUD) as an Advisor to mentor the staff in fundraising, lobby & advocacy and organsational management and guide implementation of the INSPIRED and ADYPDAP projects funded by DfID and UNDP respectively.
Michael Miiro holds a Master of Arts in Public Advocacy and Activism from National University of Ireland, Galway and a Post Graduate Diploma in Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) from Kyambogo University.
Michael has extensive experience in grassroot advocacy, disability and disability programming at national and local level. Miiro worked with Masaka District Local Government as Senior Rehabilitation Officer since 2004 and has provided training services to many Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Disabled Peoples Organizations (DPOs) including; World Vision, Sense International Uganda, Sign Health Uganda, among others.
Miiro is professionally and technically competent and motivated in trainings and conducting assessments for established results/impact of given interventions.
